‘Casting couch’ stories have circulated throughout Hollywood for as long as starlets have graced the silver screen, yet the sexual misconduct scandals of late  - Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Louis C.K. -  should serve to remind us that Hollywood is broken.

I’m compelled to fix it. At the very least, I have to try…

As a 10+ year veteran of the entertainment industry, I have not forgotten why I chose a career in entertainment. Films impacted my adolescence immensely - firstly, they served as opportunities to bond with my father, and secondly, they helped a young immigrant girl (me!) learn English. In many instances, they also taught me the difference between right and wrong. To this day, I am indebted to the filmmakers behind RockyE.T.Adventures in Babysitting and of course, my weekday afternoon’s babysitter - Saved By The Bell. These programs’ creators knew how to tell entertaining and impactful stories. They did what was asked of them. They did their jobs.

As Hollywood professionals, we have one obligation - to produce quality entertainment.   How we do it, is our choice.

We can choose to compromise our values and relationships.

We can choose to gossip, betray, and conveniently, forget.

Or…

We can choose to be responsible, hold each other accountable

and do our jobs honorably - with our principles and pants intact.
